Candle Tips
Burning Tips & Instructions
- Always read the manufacturers instructions before lighting your candles.
- When you first light your jar candle, you should let the candle burn until the wax is completely liquefied to the edge of the glass otherwise the candle will tunnel in the middle and shorten the life of your candle.
- To extinguish a candle, simply dip the wick in the wax with the tips of your scissors and then pull it back up and re-straighten the wick.
- To prevent freestanding candles from dripping, hand form the top edges in towards the center while the wax is still warm and pliable.
- Keep candles out of direct sunlight to avoid the color from fading.
General Safety
- Never leave a burning candle unattended!
- Keep away from children and pets.
- Place on a level, heat resistant surface away from flammable objects.
- Keep wax free of matches, wick trimmings, carbon deposits and other flammable materials.
- Keep out of drafts.
- Do not move candle while burning or if wax is hot. Glass will be hot.
- To prevent smoking & soot build up on container and other items, keep wick centered and trimmed to 1/4" at all times.
- Allow wax to cool before re-lighting.
- Do not use lid to extinguish candle.
- Discontinue burning when 1/2" wax remains in bottom to avoid the wax from overheating and the glass from shattering.
- All candles will produce some soot, proper burning will help eliminate this problem.
- Most importantly, please use common sense when burning any candles.
- NEVER LEAVE A BURNING CANDLE UNATTENDED
Jars Candle Tips
For best burning, all jar candles should not be extinguished until liquid covers the top. Do not allow flame to directly touch side of container. Discontinue use when ½ inch of wax remains. Keep wick trimmed to ¼ inch or less at all times to prevent smoking. Container may become hot. Handle carefully. Always use a protective surface as bottom of jar can become hot. Extinguish flame before replacing lid.
Votive Tips
Only burn votive candles in a votive holder. Authentic votive candles are made to burn for specific amounts of time and they are designed to liquefy easily to ensure proper burning quality and duration. If you burn a votive without a holder, or in a holder that is too large, the wax will spill away. This will shorten the amount of time the votive candle will burn.
Put a half of a teaspoon of water and a drop of dish soap in the bottom of the votive holder before inserting the candle. This will make it easier to remove the candle when you are done burning it.
Do not burn a votive candle all the way down to the bottom of the holder. Direct contact with the flame with a glass holder may crack the holder.
Pillar Tips
Burn 2" wide pillars for at least 2 hours the first time you light it.
Burn 3" wide Pillars for at least 3 hours the first time you light it.
Shape the outer rim of the pillar inward with your hands to ensure an even burn.
It is suggested to place your pillar on a pillar plate or proper holder to protect surfaces against possible wax dripping.
